Reminiscences of My Time at the Koninklijke Balletschool Antwerpen
Nearly five decades have passed since I last walked the halls, classrooms, and dance studios of the Koninklijke Balletschool Antwerpen, where I completed my primary education in 1976. Yet the memories remain alive in me like a never-ending waltz: the wooden barres, the endless mirrors, the shared choreographies, and those early dreams dancing to the rhythm of a calling just beginning to bloom.
I remember my classmates with special fondness—those boys and girls with whom I shared laughter, challenges, and a deep sense of camaraderie, forming a small community bound by effort and passion for the art. Among the faces that lit up my days, the presence of my teacher, Elka Broeks, remains vivid. She guided us with grace, patience, and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark on my heartwas part of that meaningful universe that shaped those years.
